Ten days ahead of her comeback, the representative 5th generation female solo artist Gyubin has released the commentary film for her debut mini album ‘Flowering’.
Gyubin's agency, Liveworks Company, officially unveiled the commentary film for her first mini album ‘Flowering’ on the 15th at 5 PM through Gyubin's official SNS and YouTube channel, garnering a warm response from global K-POP fans.
The released commentary film contains various stories that fans might be curious about, including the process of Gyubin, who took her first steps as a singer last year, evolving into a singer-songwriter through her first mini album ‘Flowering’ and an introduction to the title track ‘Like U 100’.
First, Gyubin shared about the release of her first mini album, saying, “The name of my first album is ‘Flowering’. It literally means ‘the moment of blooming’. It’s hard to believe, but if I took my first steps as a singer last year, I feel like I have truly entered a ‘blooming season’ with this album,” starting her overall discussion about the new album.
She continued, “I wanted to convey my endless stories, my desire to grow further, and this new journey through the theme of love. I tried various genres in this album, and I feel like I have almost achieved my goal of becoming a singer-songwriter who can handle diverse genres,” revealing her growth as an artist.
Regarding the title track ‘Like U 100’, in which Gyubin participated in the lyrics, she said, “It’s a song that responds to the confession of ‘I like you too’. The melody is exciting and bouncy, but we focused on capturing the sincere and honest feelings about love within it,” heightening curiosity.
Additionally, she mentioned, “In the title track ‘Like U 100’, I think you can feel a subtle emotional line. Among the highlight lyrics, ‘Wanna let you know it ain’t love’ and ‘But I like you back’ are the themes of the song. There’s an honest yet thrilling point of ‘Do you like me? I like you too’, and we focused a lot on capturing this subtle tremor,” revealing behind-the-scenes insights about the production.
Moreover, she shared a funny episode, saying, “In the lyrics of the title track ‘Like U 100’, there was an idea to change the word ‘Back’ in ‘Like You Back’ to the number ‘100’. I thought it was a really fresh and clever idea that no one had thought of, and since ‘100’ is a complete number, I felt it could be interpreted in various ways, so I represented ‘Back’ as ‘100’ in the song title and the final lyrics.”
Finally, Gyubin expressed, “Through this opportunity, I hope that people around the world will know that ‘One Hundred’ means ‘백’ in Korean,” and she surprised fans by revealing the highlight melody of the title track ‘Like U 100’ along with a work vlog, raising expectations to the highest level.
