Singer Lim Young-woong will proceed with his concert as scheduled today (2nd). Although a national mourning period has been declared until the 4th, he has decided to take the stage after much consideration to keep his promise to the audience.
The 'Lim Young-woong Recital' concert will be held at Gocheok Sky Dome in Guro-gu, Seoul, at 7:30 PM on the 2nd. This concert, which was held three times from December 27 to 29, is set to have three additional performances from January 2 to 4.
As the government has designated the mourning period for the Jeju Air disaster that occurred on the 29th of last month until midnight on the 4th, Lim Young-woong's agency announced that they would proceed with the scheduled performance “to keep the precious promise with all the staff and related parties.”
However, for those who do not wish to attend the concert, full refunds are available without cancellation fees.
Lim Young-woong's agency added, “We will prepare with a heavier heart, deeply reflecting on the feelings of mourning, so that this performance can be a moment of sincere comfort and hope. We sincerely hope that we can all come together to overcome this difficult time.”
Meanwhile, on the morning of the 29th of last month, an accident occurred at Muan International Airport when Jeju Air flight 7C2216, which had departed from Bangkok, Thailand, attempted to land without its landing gear deployed, colliding with airport facilities.
As a result of this accident, 179 out of the 181 passengers on board, including all 175 passengers and 2 pilots and 2 cabin crew members, died at the scene. On the 2nd, the fifth day after the disaster, the process of handing over the victims' belongings to their families began.
