The group NewJeans has confirmed their appearance at the 'Japan Record Awards' following their win for two consecutive years.
According to their agency Ador on the 19th, NewJeans will perform their Japanese debut single 'Supernatural' live on the '66th Shine! Japan Record Awards' (hereinafter referred to as 'Japan Record Awards'), which will be broadcast live starting at 5:30 PM on the 30th.
They were named the only overseas artist to receive the Excellent Work Award for 'Supernatural' in the list of award winners announced on the 21st of last month. The Excellent Work Award is given to 10 songs that gained significant popularity among the public in the year they were released, and NewJeans has been recognized as a winner for two consecutive years following last year's 'Ditto.' Winning the 'Excellent Work Award' automatically qualifies the song for the Grand Prize nomination.
The 'Japan Record Awards' is a music award ceremony hosted by the Japan Composers Association, which started in 1959 and is the longest-running and most prestigious award ceremony in Japan. This ceremony is broadcast live every year on December 30th via TBS.
NewJeans officially debuted in Japan in June this year and successfully completed a fan meeting at Tokyo Dome, showcasing their remarkable activities. Based on their immense popularity, they are demonstrating a strong presence by participating in famous local year-end broadcast programs and festivals.
Previously, NewJeans received enthusiastic responses by appearing on Fuji TV's '2024 FNS Music Festival' and TBS's 'CDTV Live! Live! Christmas Special.' They will also attend NTV's 'Announcement! The Most Played Songs of the Year ~Annual Music Awards 2024~' (hereinafter referred to as 'Annual Music Awards 2024') on the 28th. The 'Annual Music Awards 2024' is NTV's representative year-end music broadcast program that introduces the most popular songs of the year based on major music chart performances. NewJeans is set to perform for three consecutive years.
Additionally, on the last day of the year, they will take the stage at 'COUNTDOWN JAPAN 24/25,' the largest indoor festival in Japan for year-end events, becoming the first K-pop girl group to do so.
Moreover, NewJeans is expected to meet fans at domestic broadcasting year-end festivals and music award ceremonies. They will start with KBS2's '2024 Music Bank Global Festival in Japan' airing today (19th), followed by SBS's 'Gayo Daejeon' on the 25th, '2024 Asia Artist Awards (AAA)' on the 27th, MBC's 'Gayo Daejeon' on the 31st, and the '39th Golden Disc Awards' on January 4, 2025.
