Singer Sung Si-kyung has announced a new album.

Recently, Sung Si-kyung met with singer Baek Ji-young on his YouTube channel content 'I Will Sing' to have a conversation.

On that day, Baek Ji-young brought her mini album, released to commemorate her 25th anniversary, and took time to explain the songs. Sung Si-kyung expressed his admiration for Baek Ji-young's new work, which he has been following since her debut.

Sung Si-kyung said, "I will also release an album next year. Given my current flow, (the album will come out next year)," and added, "I've been thinking a lot about that lately. Seeing many colleagues around me releasing albums, I feel like I should do it too," conveying his anticipation for the new release. Having debuted in October 2000, Sung Si-kyung will celebrate his 25th anniversary next year, making the possibility of an actual album release quite high.

Sung Si-kyung's last album was his 8th studio album 'Siot', released in May 2021. Since then, he has only occasionally released new songs as singles, without any album format.

Sung Si-kyung also candidly shared his reluctance to release mini or full albums. He stated, "These days, each song is really important. Idol singers sell albums because fans need to own them. We are not like that," expressing his regret that when released in album format, songs can easily fade away or be overlooked by the public.

He then told Baek Ji-young, "We are people who experienced the time when ballads were the most popular in the music industry. I never thought that it would become a genre that younger generations (in their teens and twenties) would find somewhat difficult to access."

Continuing, Sung Si-kyung said, "I don't listen to songs while doing other things. I don't listen to music while driving. When I listen to music, I only want to focus on the song. I hope people can concentrate even on just one song," revealing his sincerity towards music.

Recently, the music industry has been dominated by idol music, forming a large fandom culture. It is a reality that artists from other genres, including ballad singers, do not receive as much attention as idol singers, despite their popularity. Sung Si-kyung seems to have pointed this out with regret.

Regarded as one of the top ballad singers in the country, Sung Si-kyung continues to receive great love from the public with numerous hit songs such as 'You Were a Touching Presence', 'Chama', 'Hee-jae', 'The Way to Me', 'Two People', and 'It Would Be Nice'. Although he may not achieve tremendous success on music charts, he writes a myth of sold-out large concerts every year.
