Actress Go Ah-sung expressed her gratitude to President Lee Jae-myung.
On the 21st, an outdoor stage greeting for the invited film 'Theater's Time' was held at the Busan Cinema Center in Haeundae, Busan, as part of the 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). Director Lee Jong-pil, director Yoon Ga-eun, and actors Kim Dae-myung, Hong Sa-bin, and Go Ah-sung attended.
'Theater's Time' is a work produced to shed new light on the meaning of the theater space and the value of art films, marking the 25th anniversary of the Cine Cube, the oldest art cinema in Korea. It is an anthology film that combines director Lee Jong-pil's short film 'Chimpanzee' and director Yoon Ga-eun's short film 'Naturally.'
Go Ah-sung said, "I worked with director Lee Jong-pil on 'Samjin Company English Class.' We also collaborated on the upcoming film 'Pavane' before its release. But now we meet in a competitive context. I approached it with the mindset of 'let's beat director Lee Jong-pil' with director Yoon Ga-eun."
When asked about her feelings after meeting the audience with 'Theater's Time' the day before, Go Ah-sung revealed, "Everyone gathered here shared a similar sentiment. We created it with the hope that the theater is precious and that the film would not just become a memory, and I am moved that so many people have loved it more than I expected."
She added, "It was meaningful to spend this time in Busan with President Lee, who joined us for the screening GV."
Go Ah-sung also posted on her personal SNS, "Thank you for coming to see this small film, President! ♥"
Earlier, President Lee Jae-myung and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung watched 'Theater's Time' in Busan. After watching the film, President Lee stated, "Film is a kind of comprehensive art and an industry," and promised, "The government will pay attention to ensure that the film production ecosystem can grow sufficiently from the ground up, as it is said to be deteriorating."
The 30th Busan International Film Festival, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, will be held until the 26th at the Busan Cinema Center.
