Bipoem Studio has won a civil damages lawsuit in the first instance against film critic A, who raised suspicions of reverse viral marketing regarding 'Emergency Declaration'.
According to Bipoem Studio on the 19th, the Seoul Western District Court Civil 912 Single Judge ruled in the first instance of the damages lawsuit that A should pay a total of 25 million won (20 million won to Bipoem Studio and 5 million won to the representative) as compensation and delayed damages.
Previously, A was accused of posting false information on social media during the release of 'Emergency Declaration' in 2022, claiming that Bipoem Studio led reverse viral marketing.
The court determined that Bipoem Studio and the representative's reputation and image were damaged in the process.
In August 2023, A also received a summary order of a 5 million won fine for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc. (defamation) and obstruction of business due to the dissemination of false information, which is the same matter as this case.
At that time, A did not request a formal trial, and the case was concluded with a fine.
