Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos has delivered a critique to Hollywood.

In a talk show with the American media outlet Time, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos made notable remarks regarding the stagnant situation in the American film industry, namely Hollywood.

Time editor Sam Jacobs asked Ted Sarandos, "Has Netflix destroyed Hollywood?" To which he replied, "In fact, we saved Hollywood."

He stated, "We provide programming in the way that viewers want. We show content to rural residents who have difficulty accessing theaters," emphasizing that it has been a great help.

When asked, "Is it outdated thinking to make movies in theaters?" he responded, "I don't think everyone thinks that way." Netflix acquired the last single-screen theater in Manhattan in 2019.

Netflix is a global entertainment service with over 300 million paid memberships in more than 190 countries. Paid members can enjoy a variety of content across genres such as series, movies, and games in multiple languages. CEO Ted Sarandos has been included in Time's list of the 100 most influential people in the world for 2025.
