Actress Bae Doona responded to a question about the similarity between her character in the movie “Virus” and herself by saying, “I resemble her in that I change positively when I fall in love.”
On the morning of the 16th, at the production report for the movie “Virus” (directed by Kang Yi-kwan) held at Megabox COEX in Gangnam, Seoul, Bae Doona drew attention by saying, “Like my character ‘Taek-seon,’ I also become positive and feel good when I fall in love.”
“Virus” tells the story of Taek-seon (Bae Doona), who is infected with a 100% fatal virus that makes people fall in love for no reason, and her unexpected journey with three men: the single researcher Su-pil (Son Seok-koo), her long-time friend Yeon-woo (Jang Ki-ha), and the only expert who can create a cure, Lee-kyun (Kim Yoon-seok).
Bae Doona explained, “When infected with the virus, people feel good for no reason, and even negative individuals become positive. There’s so much energy that one could dance anytime, and there are symptoms of falling in love with someone they are attracted to.”
She added, “Taek-seon’s original personality is quite negative, but she changes after being infected. She majored in Korean literature and wanted to write novels, but since it didn’t go well, she lives as a translator, feeling that she hasn’t achieved anything by her own standards, which made her depressed. So, in the early part of the story, there are some negative aspects. I think I resemble Taek-seon both before and after being infected with the virus to some extent.”
Furthermore, she laughed and said, “Especially, the idea or philosophy that love is like a virus; when I fall in love, I also change positively and feel good like Taek-seon.”
“Virus” will be released on May 7th.
