A theater event for knitting enthusiasts across the country will be held on Thursdays.

CGV announced on the 26th that it will regularly present ‘Knitting Screenings’ where attendees can knit while watching movies every month.

Following the success of the first knitting screening held last month, which sold out completely and received enthusiastic responses from knitting enthusiasts, CGV has decided to expand the event to over 10 theaters nationwide, including CGV Gangbyeon. Starting on the 27th, the screenings will take place on the last Thursday evening of each month. This month, attendees will enjoy knitting while watching the Korean film ‘The Girl We Liked That Year.’

According to CGV, the first knitting screening held on the 23rd of last month at CGV Gangbyeon CINE&FORÊT was a great success, selling out all seats. The lighting in the theater was increased to create a comfortable viewing environment for knitting. Additionally, to enhance audience satisfaction, the gentle genre film ‘Little Forest’ was screened to allow attendees to focus on their knitting.

Participants in the knitting screening shared their experiences, stating, “When thinking of unique knitting locations, I usually think of airplanes or trains, but being able to knit while watching a movie was a refreshing experience,” and “It was enjoyable to have a space where people with the same hobby could gather together.”

CJ CGV's Jo Jin-ho, head of the domestic business division, stated, “As the perception that knitting is a solitary hobby is being broken, it is becoming a healing culture enjoyed with others. We hope for much interest in the knitting screenings at the cinema.” He added, “As theaters are transforming into spaces for experiencing diverse content in unique ways, we plan to continuously present various unique screenings that provide special experiences in the future.”
