Chungju City Hall public servant YouTuber 'Chungju Man' Kim Seon-tae has firmly stated his intention to retire upon reaching 1 million subscribers.
On the 14th, Chungju Man was seen answering questions from fans in a video celebrating the achievement of 900,000 subscribers on Chungju City's official YouTube channel.
Dressed in a bathrobe and holding a glass of red wine, Chungju Man humorously stated, "I prepared a humble interview to serve you all."
Chungju Man has led the trend of local government YouTube channels by promoting the city's major policies with entertaining and fun content that captures the viewers' attention.
When a fan asked, "What do you think about introducing poison into the public servant YouTube ecosystem?" Chungju Man replied, "I didn't introduce poison; it's what you all want. So, there will be people like that."
He added, "Still, I think it's a good direction. Since the existing methods have not yielded results, I hope you see it as a struggle and view it positively," and stated, "However, doing things in a uniform manner doesn't quite fit. I believe we need to differentiate ourselves."
Previously, Chungju Man had declared that he would retire if the subscriber count of Chungju City's channel reached 1 million.
When a fan asked if he wanted to retract his retirement promise, Chungju Man cheerfully responded, "My desire to retire has not changed," and added, "So if you don't want to see me, please subscribe quickly. Quick subscriptions are the only way to survive."
In response to a question about creating a secondary account for monetization, he said, "Oh no. Please don't say that. It would be something that many people and viewers who wish for my failure would dislike," and stated, "I have no intention of selling a separate account while in public office."
Meanwhile, as of 2 PM on the 15th, the subscriber count of Chungju City's YouTube channel is approximately 923,000.
