
Actor Kim Joo-young, who was beloved for his heavy presence in historical dramas, has passed away at the age of 73.
According to his family on the 1st, Kim Joo-young passed away from pneumonia on the 30th of last month. He had a history of tuberculosis in the past, and it is reported that his health rapidly deteriorated due to weakened lungs thereafter.
Kim Joo-young graduated from Chung-Ang University with a degree in Theater and Film, and made his debut in 1974 as a talent from MBC's 6th recruitment. He then passed the 15th recruitment of TBC (Dongyang Broadcasting) and began his full-fledged acting career. He left a strong impression in MBC's 'Investigation Team' and later appeared in numerous epic historical dramas, showcasing his profound acting skills.
His representative works include the 'Five Hundred Years of Joseon Dynasty' series, 'Tears of the Dragon', 'The King and the Queen', 'Taejo Wang Geon', 'Empress Myeongseong', 'Era of the Warriors', 'Haeshin', 'Cheonchutaehu', and 'Jeong Do-jeon'.
Last year, Kim Joo-young appeared on MBN's 'Dongchimi' and drew attention by confessing, "After 50 years of acting, I became a shaman."
He shared, "I discussed it with my wife and son. Isn't it better than my son dying? So I thought I should live first. That's why I became a shaman," while also stating, "I want to act until I die."
The deceased's funeral will be held on October 2, and the burial site will be Incheon Family Park.
