The appeal hearing date for A, the operator of the 'Cyber Wrecker' YouTube channel 'Anti-Fandom Re-education Center', has been postponed.
According to a confirmation by Maeil Business Star Today on the 4th, the 1st-3rd Criminal Division of the Incheon District Court accepted A's request to change the hearing date, postponing it from the originally scheduled date of September 25 to October 16.
A has been indicted for defaming the reputations of victims by posting videos that defame celebrities such as IVE's Jang Won-young, BTS's V, Jungkook, and singer Kang Daniel on his YouTube channel 'Anti-Fandom Re-education Center' from October 2021 to June 2023.
According to the prosecution's investigation, A reportedly earned a total of 250 million won from the videos posted.
In the first trial verdict last January, the court sentenced A to 2 years in prison with a 3-year probation and ordered a fine of about 200 million won, but both the prosecution and A's side appealed, leading to the current appeal hearing.
Separately from the criminal trial, A is also facing ongoing damage compensation lawsuits.
Kang Daniel, Jang Won-young and her agency Starship Entertainment, as well as BTS's V and Jungkook and their agency Big Hit Music have filed lawsuits, and A has been continuously losing and accepting compensation rulings or appealing, leading to an unending series of lawsuits.
