Former basketball star and broadcaster Hyun Joo-yeop has drawn attention with his noticeably thinner appearance, as he confessed his feelings for the first time after last year's controversy over negligence and abuse allegations.
On the 4th, Hyun Joo-yeop released a video titled "I will just say everything" on his channel, stating, "After the controversy, I lived in seclusion and went through various experiences. Honestly, I feel very unfair and angry that my children have been affected."
Although he recently returned to YouTube broadcasting, he had not mentioned the controversial incident, but the responsible PD arranged a meeting, saying, "It seems people want to hear an apology or explanation."
Hyun Joo-yeop responded, "If there's something to apologize for, I would be fine with that. But isn't it not true?" He added, "The Media Arbitration Commission has also told media outlets to issue corrections, proving that it is not true, but people are not interested."
He continued, "After the controversy, I lived in seclusion, and there are still negative perceptions. Even if I want to apologize, there has been no result. The phone call with a junior who is 10 years younger was also edited, and the Media Arbitration Commission issued a correction. I took on the role of director as a talent donation," he said, struggling to find words.

In particular, regarding the statement that "there are many malicious comments about my son," he said, "I am angry and feel unfair because my children have suffered a lot. What sin do the kids have?" He confessed, "Now the whole family is going to mental health clinics, and my son has been hospitalized for several months. Both my wife and I have been hospitalized."
"The mental health department forced us to be hospitalized. I have suffered a lot, shouldn't I be the one to receive an apology?"
He stated that a family has collapsed. He said, "If I don't take my medication, I can't sleep," and added, "There are comments saying 'my speech is slurred,' but it's because of the psychiatric medication. If I don't take my medication consistently, my emotional fluctuations become very severe, leading to extreme situations," revealing his serious health condition.
He continued, "Depression is not just one thing; there are various types. It comes from suicidal impulses, insomnia, social anxiety, and loss of appetite. I started YouTube again to bring about some change," and mentioned, "I either eat once a day or not at all. My appetite has decreased. I've lost over 30kg, and even the doctor was surprised. Today, the first thing I ate was a mix of soju and beer," expressing his struggles due to health deterioration despite being known as a big eater.
In conclusion, he said, "My wife wasn't even in the 40kg range when she was single, but now she is about 46kg. My son is taller than me, and all the coaches say he should play basketball, but he doesn't want to. Because of society's gaze, he can't do what he wants," adding, "From my son's perspective, it's miserable. I think if I start broadcasting again, the situation will improve for him. I want to show that the world is not like that."
Last year, Hyun Joo-yeop was embroiled in allegations of neglecting his duties as the basketball coach at Whimoon High School due to external schedules. This was compounded by allegations of negligence, dual employment, and abuse, along with claims of favoritism towards his son, which dealt a severe blow to his image.
Hyun Joo-yeop's side later stated, "The media that first reported the allegations against coach Hyun Joo-yeop, according to the mediation of the Media Arbitration Commission, confirmed that 'the insufficient working hours were supplemented through alternative work,' and clarified that the allegations of dual employment and negligence are not true."
