Singer Sunmi revealed behind-the-scenes stories from the SM audition before her debut at JYP Entertainment.

Recently, the web entertainment show 'Kkondaehee' posted a video titled "Let's eat rice and talk, Sunmi and a meal of white rice, which is not enough in 24 hours."

In the video, Sunmi started by saying, "I thought I had to become a singer when I was in elementary school, and I was the best."

She said, "In my young mind, I was thinking, 'What job can I do to earn money quickly?' and after seeing my senior BoA debut when she was in middle school, I thought I should become an idol. I didn't think I had much talent, but I liked to follow dance moves and things like that."

She continued, "I couldn't just dream, so I thought I had to take action. When I was in elementary school, I bought a bus ticket by myself and took a express bus to Seoul. That's how I ended up auditioning for SM in 5th grade."

She recalled, "After seeing the open audition, the casting director seemed to like me. There was something called the SM Youth Best Selection Contest, and they told me to participate. I went as the best in appearance and passed the first round. The grand prize was won by my senior, comedian Shin Dong, and at that time, the first place in appearance was Gong Seungyeon. I was 2nd after her," she said with a shy smile.

Moreover, Sunmi said, "I thought I would debut at SM, but I received a casting offer from JYP. At that time, Rain and the group g.o.d were there. It was a huge company for me, and I had a private audition that was not public, and I passed. SM's response was a bit late. I ended up going to JYP, which felt more proactive."

Additionally, she added, "I debuted at lightning speed without even two years of trainee life. I couldn't sing well, and I couldn't dance well, but I think I was lucky."

Sunmi will release her new digital single 'BLUE!' on the 26th.
