Shu, a member of the group S.E.S., has addressed the rumors of divorce with her husband, former basketball player Lim Hyo-sung.
On the 22nd, a video titled “Divorce rumors? Separation rumors? The truth revealed by the Shu couple” was posted on the YouTube channel 'Human That's Shu'.
The video was filmed at Shu's home. Lim Hyo-sung appeared to keep his distance, saying, “It’s embarrassing to be next to you.”
The couple has three children: one son and two daughters. Shu introduced her family, saying, “Our son is in the 3rd year of middle school, and the twin daughters are in the 6th grade of elementary school.”
Lim Hyo-sung humorously stated, “I’m just an option.”
Shu mentioned, “I developed a health product using centella asiatica and did my best to make it,” adding, “I’m currently developing another product.”
Having been married for 4 years and friends for 11 years, Lim Hyo-sung remarked, “I loved you back then. You were so nice, but now you’re a devil.”
Regarding the divorce rumors, Shu explained, “If we divorce, who will take the children, who will pay the child support, who will be distant and not see them? We can’t agree on that, so we can’t separate.”
Lim Hyo-sung expressed, “There are more important children than hating each other, so it’s not an easy decision,” and added, “It’s complicated.”
Currently, they live as a weekend couple and get along like friends. Lim Hyo-sung shared, “I sometimes live outside for work, but I come back on Fridays or Saturdays to stay for one or two nights and then go back to living alone,” revealing, “It’s been 3 to 4 years since we’ve lived apart.”
The reason for their separation was mentioned to be related to an electronic piano. During a company dinner, Lim Hyo-sung was asked to buy an electronic piano for their child's art festival, and despite being drunk, he bought one from Nakwon Shopping Center and placed it in the living room.
Although Shu told him to assemble it and let it grow, Lim Hyo-sung ended up just sleeping. He revealed the shocking reason for becoming a weekend couple, saying, “The next day, all my belongings were at the moving company.”
Shu debuted in 1997 as a member of the group S.E.S., receiving much love as a 'national girl group.' However, from August 2016 to May 2018, she faced trial for habitual gambling amounting to 800 million won overseas, and in 2019, she was sentenced to 6 months in prison, 2 years of probation, and 80 hours of community service.
Recently, Lim Hyo-sung revealed, “During the separation period, Shu fell into gambling,” and added, “I helped her even when she said she had a debt of 250 million won.”
Shu once again apologized regarding the gambling controversy, saying, “I ruined everything. Our children are so unfortunate,” while showing tears.
Lim Hyo-sung and Shu got married in 2010 and have three children together.
