Singer and actress Uhm Jung-hwa shed tears while recalling her feelings before her thyroid cancer surgery.
On the 17th, a video titled “Healing Lunch with Actor Lee El from Hyoja-dong! Vlog from Hyoja-dong to Haebangchon” was released on Uhm Jung-hwa's YouTube channel ‘Umazing Uhm Jung-hwa TV’.
In the video, Uhm Jung-hwa met with actress Lee El and shared their healing methods. Lee El mentioned that she “self-soothes” and said, “If I had a hard time during filming, I would eat leftover kimbap or sandwiches and say, ‘I’m sorry for making you eat this after such a tough time.’”
Uhm Jung-hwa deeply empathized with Lee El, saying, “I felt really troubled thinking, ‘I’m going to die soon,’ and ‘I only have aging left to do.’ At that time, I was introduced to CST by Lee Hyori and have been receiving it regularly.”
CST, or Craniosacral Therapy, is a type of manual therapy that corrects the skull, sacrum, and spine. Uhm Jung-hwa, who learned about CST thanks to Lee Hyori, said, “Hyori introduced it to me and helped me stop. Since then, everything has changed,” adding, “My physical condition improved, and I realized I needed to free myself from the wounds we had received.”
Recalling her battle with thyroid cancer, Uhm Jung-hwa said, “As I entered the operating room, I had two thoughts that gave me comfort. I felt relieved that I didn’t have children or family because I wasn’t married, but at the same time, I was very sad for the same reason,” shedding tears.
Uhm Jung-hwa underwent thyroid cancer surgery in 2010. She revealed that she couldn’t speak for eight months during that time, sharing her difficult battle with the illness.
Meanwhile, Uhm Jung-hwa will appear in the new ENA Monday-Tuesday drama ‘My Precious Star,’ which will be released on the 18th. ‘My Precious Star’ is a romantic comedy that unfolds after South Korea's top star suddenly becomes an ordinary middle-aged woman.
In the drama, Uhm Jung-hwa plays the role of ‘Bong Cheong-ja,’ a top star whose 25 years of career are suddenly erased.
