Maggie Kang, the director of the Netflix animated film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' (hereafter 'K-Demon'), will visit Korea this September.
According to the film industry on the 12th, Director Maggie Kang will attend the 'Global Media Conference' as a speaker on the 18th of next month at the Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul.
This event is being held to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the JoongAng Ilbo and will take place from September 17 to 18. This will be Director Maggie Kang's first visit to Korea following the release of 'K-Demon', which has created a global phenomenon.
At this event, Director Maggie Kang will introduce the secrets to the success of 'K-Demon' and present strategies for content innovation and growth.
Maggie Kang, a Canadian of Korean descent, was born in Seoul and moved to Toronto, Canada with her family during her childhood. After majoring in animation at Sheridan College in Canada, she worked as a story artist at DreamWorks, Blue Sky, Warner Bros., and Illumination.
'K-Demon', which depicts the adventures of the K-pop girl group Huntress as they operate as demon hunters, is her first feature film as a director. Maggie Kang co-directed the film with Chris Appelhans from the United States.
Released as a Netflix original in June, 'K-Demon' topped the all-time box office for Netflix animations, and the original soundtrack (OST) 'Golden' achieved the record of reaching number one on both the UK Official Singles Chart and the Billboard Hot 100.
In addition to Director Maggie Kang, the event will feature keynote speeches and presentations from actor Lee Jung-jae, Kwon Mi-kyung, the producer of the film 'Zombie Daughter' and head of Studio N, Mark Thompson, CEO of CNN, and Lee Soo-man, founder of SM Entertainment.
Tickets for the conference will be available for purchase starting on the 20th at NOL Interpark.
