Actress Goo Hye-sun has provided an additional statement regarding the 'double standards' controversy (what I do is romance, what others do is infidelity).
On the 9th, Goo Hye-sun stated on her Instagram account regarding a post about Ahn Jae-hyun made the previous day, "P.S.: This post is a statement about the situation that occurred after an agreement with my ex-spouse. I regret the reports that blur the issues by linking them to conflicts that occurred before the agreement."
Earlier, on the 8th, Goo Hye-sun posted a lengthy message saying, "I believe that repeatedly leading the news headlines with '5 years of divorce' and branding it is not the right journalistic ethics."
Goo Hye-sun explained, "There were conflicting claims during the divorce process between my ex-spouse and me, and if we reached an agreement without determining the truth, it may not be a sincere reconciliation between the parties, but it can be seen as an implicit promise and a duty as human beings." She added, "Divorce is also about claiming each other's damages, making it a very selfish and difficult process."
She continued, "Despite the very unpleasant divorce process with my ex-spouse, the continuous and indirect references and remarks that can be inferred about me, who is a party working in the same industry, are cowardly acts that oscillate between seriousness and jokes." She pointed out, "I hope those who create various sensational gossip programs realize that asking leading questions or offering comfort regarding this matter is a form of secondary harm to the ex-spouse and a deeply hurtful act."
Goo Hye-sun expressed, "I hope there is a conscience in entertainment programs," stating, "Even if it is just for fun or a joke, if the parties involved feel discomfort, it should be stopped immediately. I am someone who struggles to express my difficulties through tears or words. Nevertheless, I am not a person without emotions."
She added, "I sincerely hope that no one in this world has the right to mock me, the party involved, to provide enjoyment to the public. I wish for my ex-spouse to be active, recognized, and develop with their own unique identity and authenticity, rather than being a subject of my story."
However, following Goo Hye-sun's confession, some pointed out 'double standards' as she had previously mentioned divorce and new love on entertainment shows. In response, Goo Hye-sun drew attention by directly providing an additional statement.
Goo Hye-sun married actor Ahn Jae-hyun in 2016 but divorced in 2020 after a series of conflicts.
