ENA·SBS Plus ‘I Am Solo’ 16th season Ok-soon (real name Lee Na-ra) has sued a cosmetic company for using her photos and name in false advertising.
On the 6th, Ok-soon shared on her SNS, “Many people have recently encountered the content related to ‘MiXX XXX’ and ‘Australia XXXX’ through the YouTube channel ‘Death Fox’, and I was also involved in this. I have been quietly preparing for legal action for a long time,” and added, “I confirmed that they used my photos and name in promotional posts, blogs, and advertisements as if I personally used and recommended the products.”
She continued, “During this process, they made enormous profits, but I was never contacted, and I have never approved or agreed to this,” stating, “I have been preparing for a civil lawsuit for about two months. And today, I would like to inform you that I have officially begun legal action.”
She emphasized, “I will respond firmly under my name to ensure that such incidents do not happen again,” and expressed, “I sincerely hope to be a small shield to prevent consumers from being deceived and harmed by false advertising or manipulated information in the future.”
Ok-soon, who hinted at legal action, also conveyed her apologies to those who have been harmed.
Previously, a cosmetic company promoted as a famous global brand in Australia was revealed to actually be a domestic brand, causing controversy.
In particular, the controversy was fueled when Bada, a member of the group S.E.S., appeared on a beauty YouTube channel and promoted it by saying, “I first saw this product when I went to Australia. It’s famous.” However, it was pointed out that the brand and product were produced and manufactured domestically, leading to Bada being embroiled in the false advertising controversy.
Ultimately, Bada issued a handwritten letter the day before, stating, “I had no intention of deliberately conveying false information or deceiving consumers, but nonetheless, I sincerely apologize for causing confusion and distrust among consumers, and I accept this matter with a heavy sense of responsibility.”
Meanwhile, 16th season Ok-soon appeared in the ‘I Am Solo’ special for single people that aired in 2023. Recently, she shared that she is pregnant after meeting someone new.
