Model and actress Jang Yoon-joo shared her struggles with getting pregnant.
On the 3rd, a video titled "The reason why the youngest daughter Jang Yoon-joo wanted to live as a man" was posted on the YouTube channel 'Yoonjure Jang Yoon-joo'.
In the video, Jang Yoon-joo explained that the characters of her name mean 'best Yoon' and 'pillar Joo', saying, "'Pillar Joo' is a character that women usually don't use, but it's included in my name."
As the youngest daughter among three sisters, Jang Yoon-joo mentioned that she often heard from her mother, "I wished you were a son, but you're a daughter," reflecting on her painful past.
Because of this, Jang Yoon-joo admitted that she had many issues during her dating life, confessing, "I had a habit of looking down on men."
After a breakup, while praying with a respected pastor, she was asked, "Sister Yoon-joo, do you acknowledge that you are a woman?" and she ended up crying. Jang Yoon-joo shared, "I cried saying, 'I don't like being a woman,' and 'I never thought of myself as a woman,'” adding, “I realized that when I was thirty.”
She also talked about her struggles with pregnancy. Jang Yoon-joo said, "I have always lived under the average weight for my height, and after trying for natural conception for about two years, they told me to consider IVF if it didn't work," recalling, "Hearing that it would be difficult to have a child, even though I hadn't thought about it, made me very depressed."
She continued, "Even after getting married, there were tough days when I was still supporting my parents, and I questioned during early morning worship, 'Can I raise a child in this state?'" She added, "But then I was given the thought that if I had a child, a love I never imagined would grow, and I came out of the church asking for a child."
Jang Yoon-joo revealed, "A week after that, I found out I was pregnant," surprising the production team.
Meanwhile, Jang Yoon-joo married a businessman four years younger than her in 2015 and has a daughter.
She is currently communicating with the public through her YouTube channel 'Yoonjure Jang Yoon-joo'.
