The 2025 MBN Seoul Marathon proved its immense popularity by selling out the half course and 10km course in no time.

As runners flock to the '2025 MBN Seoul Marathon' scheduled for November 16, it has recorded consecutive sellouts.

The MBN Seoul Marathon Organizing Committee stated, “During the participant recruitment held on July 30-31, over 45,000 people participated in the pre-registration that started on July 25, showing high interest,” and added, “The recruitment of 25,000 participants closed immediately upon registration.”

The marathon industry reacted with expectations regarding the high interest in MBN's first event held in Seoul, which is already operating marathon events in Geoje, Naju, and Yeongjongdo. Participants evaluated that the half course, which passes through the heart of Seoul without overlapping routes, is an attractive element compared to the existing full marathon courses that tend to circle the same area and can be somewhat boring. Additionally, the ongoing heat in Seoul has led to a consensus that November now offers pleasant running weather.

The MBN Seoul Marathon organizing committee expressed, “Despite expanding the registration server, we ask for your understanding as the waiting time for the half course increased due to the overwhelming number of participants,” and stated their intention to work with relevant agencies, including the Seoul city government, to consider expanding the number of participants while striving for a safe and convenient event operation.

Prospective participants raised their expectations in various running communities, saying, “I didn’t expect the registration to be this hot,” “A beautiful premium half course as beautiful as the full course,” and “I hope to run with the cast of MBN’s first marathon entertainment show ‘Run to Live’.” Some participants compared it to other marathons, saying, “The course of the Seoul Marathon is far superior,” and “Other marathons that started registration at the same time are still accepting applications.”

This event will be divided into two categories: the 'Half Course (21.0975km)' and the '10km Course.'

The 'Half Course' starts at Gwanghwamun Square, passes through Seoul City Hall, Sungnyemun, Myeongdong, and Chungmuro Station, then goes past Heunginjimun (Dongdaemun), Sinseoldong Intersection, Janghanpyeong Station, Gunja Station Intersection, and Guui Intersection. Finally, it crosses the Jamsil Bridge and finishes near the Jamsil Sports Complex.

The '10km Course' starts from the East Gate of the Jamsil Sports Complex, passes through the Jamsil Station Intersection and Seokchon Station, and turns back at the Garak Market Station. There are almost no steep inclines or declines, allowing runners to focus more on their pace.

Meanwhile, the 2025 MBN Seoul Marathon, hosted by MBN and Maeil Business Newspaper, will take place on November 16 in downtown Seoul and the Jamsil area, featuring an exciting race.
