BJ Gajusayeon (real name In Se-yeon) is initiating a damages lawsuit against cyber bully YouTuber Ppeokga.
The Seoul Central District Court Civil 1005 (Chief Judge Lim Bok-kyu) will hold the first hearing for the 30 million won damages lawsuit filed by Gajusayeon against Ppeokga on the 22nd.
Originally, this trial was scheduled for June 17, but Ppeokga requested a change of date due to issues with hiring a lawyer, resulting in the postponement to today.
Subsequently, Ppeokga appointed lawyer Jo Il-nam from the law firm Hyun-dap and submitted a request for a change of date again on the 17th. However, the court did not accept this, and the first hearing for Ppeokga will proceed as scheduled today.
Ppeokga also submitted a video trial request expressing his intention to participate in the trial via video due to concerns about personal information exposure, but the court denied this as well.
Gajusayeon filed a defamation lawsuit against Ppeokga for false statements last September. Ppeokga is accused of damaging her reputation by alleging that Gajusayeon engaged in sexual relations for monetary compensation and gambled in Las Vegas.
Gajusayeon's side secured Ppeokga's identity through the discovery process of a U.S. federal court and filed the lawsuit. Ppeokga submitted a 'request to suspend the lawsuit' to the court, but the court dismissed it, determining that Ppeokga's reasons did not meet the requirements.
