The street dance festival '2025 Breaking Summer' hosted by the breaking crew Jinjo Crew has successfully concluded.
On the 12th, this competition held at SJ Kunsthalle in Gangnam, Seoul, saw the participation of over 300 dancers from five countries: Korea, the USA, Japan, China, and Russia. As soon as the doors opened, the venue was packed with spectators, and the front rows of the stage were quickly filled with standing audience members.
This year's Breaking Summer was composed of four categories, showcasing battle stages with different styles. In the Breaking Youth category, dancers aged 9 to 10 took the stage, impressing the audience with their skills that rivaled those of adults.
The battle video of nine-year-old b-girl KITTY rapidly spread on social media right after the event, surpassing 3.13 million views (as of the 14th) and gaining immense popularity. This event has been praised for creating a space where not just competition, but also children and family audiences could come together, uniting all generations through dance.
In addition to the battles, a special showcase featuring Lady Bounce, HANYA, 2way kids, and h-has received enthusiastic cheers from the audience. Lady Bounce's performance utilizing chairs drew explosive reactions.
After the competitions in each category, the winners were announced: ▲BREAKING 1ON1 OPEN category 1st place NORD DIAMOND (Russia), 2nd place Kwon Young-jin (STUBBORN) BEST4 LITHE-ING, Kim Jung-hwan (BBOY T) ▲OPEN STYLE 2ON2 category 1st place FUNK IN THE JINJO (Kwon Hyuk-jin/JIN & Park Min-hyuk/ZOOTY ZOOT), 2nd place DOKYUN & HEADY BEST4 RAI & HIDDEN, FUSION MC ▲BREAKING 1ON1 UNDER 18 category 1st place COCOA (Japan), 2nd place OUKI ▲OPEN STYLE 1ON1 UNDER 15 category 1st place Lee Yoon-young (RANA), 2nd place Byeol-ri celebrated their victories.
Jinjo Crew's representative Kim Heon-jun stated, "This year's Breaking Summer was a festival of passion created together by dancers and audiences from around the world in the heart of Seoul," and added, "It was a moment where everyone could feel the diversity and charm of street dance, leading to its further popularization."
