Park Gyuri, a member of the group Kara, has reportedly been selected as a witness in the fraud trial of her ex-boyfriend, Mr. Song, the CEO of Company P. However, her agency stated, "Confirmation is difficult."
On the 15th, Sports Kyung Hyang reported that Park Gyuri has been chosen as a witness for the public trial regarding the fraud charges against Mr. Song, which will be held on the 16th at the 12th Criminal Division of the Seoul Southern District Court.
If Park Gyuri attends the trial as a witness, the witness examination will be conducted privately. However, a representative from Park Gyuri's agency told Star Today, "It is difficult to confirm" regarding her attendance at the trial.
Mr. Song was arrested and indicted in July 2023 on charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes (fraud), breach of trust, obstruction of business, and violation of the Capital Markets Act. He is accused of soliciting investors to invest in art pieces that he did not possess and manipulating the market price of a virtual asset (Pika Coin).
Park Gyuri had been in a public relationship with Mr. Song since 2019 but broke up in 2021. After Mr. Song became embroiled in fraud allegations, Park Gyuri, who worked as a curator and chief publicist for Company P, was also questioned by the prosecution as a witness.
At that time, Park Gyuri's side stated to Star Today, "We clarified that she did not participate in any illegal activities related to the coin business during the witness statement process and did not gain any unfair advantages," adding, "Park Gyuri has no connection to the art-related coin business but will cooperate as much as possible with the related investigation."
