‘Tony Award 6-time winner’ Park Cheon-hyu signs exclusive contract with Media Lab Siso… [Official]

Musical writer Park Cheon-hyu has signed an exclusive contract with Media Lab Siso.

On the 15th, Media Lab Siso announced, “We have recently signed an exclusive contract with Park Cheon-hyu, who achieved the remarkable feat of winning 6 Tony Awards with ‘Maybe Happy Ending’ in June.” They added, “We hope that everyone will watch with great anticipation and affectionate interest in the various charms of Park Cheon-hyu. We will spare no effort in providing full support so that his creativity can shine even brighter in collaboration with Media Lab Siso.”

Park Cheon-hyu has written the script and lyrics for musicals such as ‘Bungee Jumping of Their Own’, ‘Maybe Happy Ending’, and ‘Il Tenore’. He won the Best Composition/Lyrics Award at the ‘The Musical Awards’ in 2013 for ‘Bungee Jumping of Their Own’, the Best Script/Lyrics Award at the ‘Korean Musical Awards’ in 2018 for ‘Maybe Happy Ending’, and the Grand Prize at the ‘Korean Musical Awards’ held this year for ‘Il Tenore’.

‘Maybe Happy Ending’ was nominated in 10 categories at the ‘Tony Awards’, one of the four major awards considered a grand slam in American popular culture, held in June, and won an impressive 6 awards (Best Musical, Best Book, Best Score, Best Direction, Best Actor, Best Scenic Design), marking a significant milestone in Korean musical history. It particularly drew attention as the first Tony Award win for a Korean creator for a musical created in Korea.

Recently, he also participated in an event titled ‘The Dream of a Cultural Powerhouse, Korea Moving Towards the World’, hosted by the Presidential Office, which invited cultural and artistic figures who have elevated our culture to a global level.

Media Lab Siso, which signed an exclusive contract with Park Cheon-hyu, is a planning agency founded by comedian Song Eun-i, and includes broadcasters such as Song Eun-i, Shin Bong-sun, Ahn Young-mi, Jang Hang-jun, Kwon Il-yong, Kim Soo-yong, Jo Hye-ryun, Park So-ra, and Hwang Jeong-hye, as well as actors like Bong Tae-gyu, Kim Seong-beom, Lim Hyeong-jun, Kim Gi-ri, Cha Seon-woo, Bae Je-gi, Ok Ja-yeon, Lee Da-eun, Choi Kang-hee, and Jeon Mi-do.

Meanwhile, ‘Maybe Happy Ending’ will hold a 10th-anniversary performance at the Doosan Art Center's Yeonggang Hall from October 30 to January 25 next year.
