Actress Kim Nam-joo revealed that she used to visit Hawaii every summer for her children's English education.
On the afternoon of the 3rd, she mentioned her routine of attending summer school in Hawaii on the SBS Life entertainment program ‘Queen of Insight Kim Nam-joo’.
“I went to summer school in Hawaii every summer,” she said. “I went to Paris as a Louis Vuitton ambassador, but after just greeting people, I had to endure a 6-hour meal. At that time, I promised myself that I would definitely teach my child English.”
The reason she started going to Hawaii was that she realized why learning English was important. Kim Nam-joo also shared the musubi recipe she used to pack for her children when they attended summer school.
She recalled, “Someone once said, ‘If you were to draw heaven, wouldn’t it be Hawaii?’ It’s often called a paradise on earth. When we first went, it wasn’t as expensive as it is now. Now it’s so expensive that we can’t go.” She continued, “Back then, I would drop the kids off at school, go to the Korean market with my husband, pick them up when school was over, prepare dinner, feed them, and put them to bed around 8 or 9 PM.”
She added, “After bathing and putting the kids to bed, my husband and I would drink on the balcony, and there was a popular club right in front of our house. When we got the courage to go after drinking, they said shorts weren’t allowed,” sharing a humorous episode.
Furthermore, she said, “When we changed clothes and went back, they asked me to show my ID. Even though my husband said, ‘This is my wife,’ they still wouldn’t let us in. In the end, we had to go back and forth three times before we got in,” adding, “All the stylish people in Hawaii were there. I think the memories of Hawaii are good. Even though we can’t go now.”
