Actress Kim Nam-joo (55) confessed that she suffered from a fear of negative comments in the past.
In the new entertainment program 'Queen of Insight Kim Nam-joo' aired on SBS Life on the afternoon of the 19th, Kim Nam-joo recalled her difficult memories due to past negative comments while her daily life was being showcased.
In the video, Kim Nam-joo revealed, "Honestly, I didn't look at comments before. They were scary and hurtful, and they kept me from sleeping for a week."
Fortunately, she stated that she is in a much better place now. She said, "These days, it seems like people don't leave harsh comments as much," and added, "When I see good comments, it makes me feel good. Then I get so excited that I keep looking at them," smiling shyly.
Shortly after, a lavish meal including soy sauce marinated crab, eel, and braised hairtail was served, and after showcasing her eating skills, she shared a memory saying, "I like soy sauce marinated crab because of my mom."
She also reminisced about her memories with her children, reflecting on her role as 'Mom Kim Nam-joo.' She said, "Looking back now, I thought I wasn't like that, but there were many misconceptions," and added, "I think I would raise my children better when I become a grandmother. I did my best, but I have many regrets."
When asked what kind of mother she thinks she is, she replied, "I can be very good when I want to, and I can be extremely strict when I need to be."
She continued, "Now that the kids have grown up a lot, I try really hard to be a mom who is like a friend and not keep a distance," and shared, "There was a time when my eldest daughter was a teenager, and it was tough. I disciplined her by saying, 'Even during puberty, there are lines you shouldn't cross,' and 'You should be respectful to your parents,' but she kept rebelling. Later, I would respond with childish remarks like, 'Are you in puberty? I'm in menopause! Menopause wins all!'" She laughed, adding, "Now she has become a wonderful, friend-like daughter."
Finally, she expressed satisfaction with her recent challenge on YouTube, saying, "For the past 31 years as an actress, I couldn't eat well because of filming. But now that I'm eating like this while filming, it feels awkward but good," and added a cheerful exclamation, "Nice!"
Kim Nam-joo debuted as a talent through SBS's 4th public recruitment in 1994 and has appeared in various dramas, also thriving as a CF queen. She has been loved for a long time with her unique sophisticated and urban image, embodying the 'cool woman' persona.
