Professor Seo Kyung-duk of Sungshin Women's University urged the government to take swift action regarding the emergence of an online game that distorts and belittles the 5·18 Democratic Movement by featuring a photo of former President Chun Doo-hwan.

On the 4th, Professor Seo mentioned the game ‘Gwangju Running Man’ registered on the game platform ‘Steam’ through social media, stating, “The game depicts citizens as heinous criminals or violent groups against the backdrop of Gwangju in May 1980, and justifies the violent actions of the martial law troops, which is problematic.”

He continued, “While access has been blocked domestically, it is still available overseas,” adding, “Comments in various languages such as English, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, and German are being posted.”

He also criticized, “Recently, bags and T-shirts featuring Chun Doo-hwan's face were sold on the Chinese online shopping mall ‘Taobao’, causing controversy,” stating, “Making light of another country's painful history is a grave mistake.”

Professor Seo lamented, “It is unacceptable to profit from such online games,” emphasizing, “I expect prompt action from government agencies such as the Game Rating and Administration Committee.”
