A day before the 21st presidential election, broadcaster Hong Jin-kyung, who wore red clothing and became embroiled in a political color controversy, has released an apology.

On the 3rd, Hong Jin-kyung posted a handwritten apology on her social media. This was in response to the political color controversy that arose from a post she made on the 2nd, featuring a photo of her wearing red clothing.

"I just checked the internet now due to the time difference while on a business trip," Hong Jin-kyung began, adding, "I apologize for the delay in my apology."

She continued, "I have often felt regretful seeing celebrities act in ways that could be misunderstood during the voting period, and I am truly astonished that I made such a foolish mistake during this sensitive time."

She explained, "The photos I posted on my feed were taken two days ago at a store in Stockholm. I thought the design was interesting and posted the photo, but I didn't consider the color of the top I was wearing at the time."

She reiterated, "Regardless of the reason, I was definitely wrong. I have no words to say, and it is clear that I made a mistake. During this sensitive time for everyone, I sincerely apologize once again for causing confusion."

Earlier on the 2nd, Hong Jin-kyung posted several daily photos on her SNS wearing red clothing at clothing stores and restaurants.

Some netizens speculated that Hong Jin-kyung's posting of photos in red clothing a day before the presidential election was to reveal her political stance. As the controversy continued, Hong Jin-kyung deleted the photos.

Meanwhile, ahead of the election, the political color controversy involving celebrities such as Aespa's Karina and rapper Beenzino continues.

Karina posted a photo wearing a black jumper with the number 2 written in red, and when the controversy arose, she stated, "I had no such intention at all, but the misunderstanding grew. I will be more mindful and careful in the future."

Beenzino also posted a photo of himself in red clothing while parenting, along with the caption "World Red Day," and clarified, "There was really no political intention."
