Actor Seo Do-young, who passionately portrayed Palcheokgui in the drama 'Gwigung', revealed behind-the-scenes stories.

In the SBS drama 'Gwigung' (written by Yoon Soo-jung, directed by Yoon Sung-sik and Kim Ji-yeon) aired on the 30th, the identity of the 'ghost king' Palcheokgui was finally revealed.

Palcheokgui was Cheon Geum-hwi, a guard of the Royal Guard 100 years ago, who became a vengeful spirit after the king sacrificed his family and villagers to escape from the enemy.

It was particularly shocking to learn that the actor playing Palcheokgui was Seo Do-young, stirring excitement in households. Seo Do-young, a model-turned-actor, is a '20-year veteran actor' who has been consistently loved for his 186cm handsome appearance and solid acting skills.

Immediately after the broadcast of 'Gwigung', Seo Do-young held a live broadcast on his Instagram account. Appearing dramatically in the Palcheokgui mask, he shyly greeted viewers, saying, "I wonder if it's appropriate to greet you like this at night."

He then revealed, "I had to undergo full-body makeup to portray a ghost that is 2m 40cm tall without CG," sharing the challenging transformation process into Palcheokgui. He explained that four special makeup staff worked for three hours each time during filming, and he had to bear the weight of armor that was nearly 30kg.

Because of this, he shared, "Even while sitting still, I often found it hard to breathe, and I was drenched in sweat even in the freezing winter at minus 18 degrees." He also revealed that the voice of Palcheokgui, which adds to the horror, was created by him dubbing various voices. He expressed his amazement at people's unique reactions, saying, "When I transformed into Palcheokgui, people were very scared of me and didn't recognize me."

Meanwhile, during Seo Do-young's live broadcast, fans from around the world, including Japan and Sri Lanka, sent support and praise to Seo Do-young for his bold challenge. Finally, Seo Do-young said, "There is still a great narrative left for Cheon Geum-hwi (Palcheokgui), so I hope you look forward to it. Detailed episodes about Palcheokgui will be released through various channels," delivering a message to the viewers.

SBS's Friday-Saturday drama 'Gwigung' airs every Friday and Saturday at 9:55 PM.
