Director Lee Seong-tae did not hold back his praise for Lee Jeong-ha.
On the 28th, a production presentation for the Wavve original 'ONE: High School Heroes' (hereafter 'ONE') was held at Lotte Cinema in Gunja-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul. Attendees included Lee Jeong-ha, Kim Do-wan, Kim Sang-ho, Kim Joo-ryeong, Yoo Hee-je, Yook Jun-seo, Lim Seong-kyun, and Director Lee Seong-tae.
'ONE' is a high school action drama where Kim Ui-gyeom (played by Lee Jeong-ha), who suffers from his father's oppression, teams up with Kang Yoon-ki (played by Kim Do-wan), who wants to utilize his innate fighting talent, to form the masked 'High School Heroes' and unleash their repressed anger, overturning the hierarchy of school violence. It captures the thrilling action of the High School Heroes' bold counterattack against the class and hierarchy built on violence.
Based on the webtoon of the same name, 'ONE', which has accumulated 65 million views on Kakao Webtoon and won the '2020 Today's Our Comic Award'.
Director Lee Seong-tae commented on Lee Jeong-ha, who plays Ui-gyeom, saying, "He is innocent and has a lot of facial expressions. When Jeong-ha smiles, I melt. Our protagonist is a friend who has lost his expression under oppression. I thought it would be great if natural expressions came out when he feels a sense of liberation in the work," and added, "When Jeong-ha creates emotions on his own, his eyes become fierce. I thought he would be good at depicting the character of Ui-gyeom, so I cast him."
He also said, "There is a scene where he first bluntly speaks to his father about his story. We were filming that scene in the studio, and the way Jeong-ha performed during the rehearsal that day was something I had not anticipated. It was surprising and extremely satisfying. I trust him completely regarding his acting and filmed it," he praised.
'ONE' will release episodes 1-4 on Wavve on the 30th, episodes 5 and 6 on June 6, and episodes 7 and 8 on June 13.
