Actor Choo Young-woo has won the Best New Actor award for his life character.

On the 5th, Choo Young-woo received the Male New Actor Award in the broadcasting category at the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards held at COEX D Hall in Gangnam, Seoul for his role in JTBC’s ‘Ok-ssi’s Lady’.

Holding the trophy for Best New Actor, Choo Young-woo said, “Just being here is overwhelming and an honor, and I am grateful to receive this award. It feels like a gift from the director, the writer, and the fellow actors, not something I achieved alone,” he said with a trembling voice.

He continued, “My acting teacher told me, ‘Be a person who wears out rather than a fading actor,’ and I will work even harder until the day I wake up and go to the set as an actor,” he vowed.

In ‘Ok-ssi’s Lady’, Choo Young-woo created a life character with his multidimensional performance, switching between the celestial being Cheon Seung-hwi and the eldest son of a noble family, Seong Yoon-gyeom. He showcased a wide acting spectrum with detailed eye expressions, vocalization, and facial expressions, making his first historical drama challenge seem effortless.

Choo Young-woo is set to continue his rising popularity this year by meeting viewers through the Netflix series ‘Gwangjang’ and tvN’s ‘Gyeon-woo and the Fairy’.
