Provoking anger and concluding with satisfaction, tvN's hit drama "Please Marry My Husband" is being reborn as a Japanese version.

On the 30th, CJ ENM announced, "We will present the Japanese version of 'Please Marry My Husband,' which has been a hit both domestically and internationally. CJ ENM is planning and producing it, and it will meet global fans through Amazon's video streaming service, Prime Video."

"Please Marry My Husband" is a drama based on a popular Naver web novel of the same name, planned and produced by Studio Dragon and aired on tvN in 2024. The story follows a woman who witnesses her best friend and husband’s affair and is murdered, providing thrilling catharsis through her return and revenge, gaining immense popularity.

At the time of airing, it recorded the highest average viewership rating for tvN's Monday-Tuesday dramas and set records by dominating TV-OTT buzz. Notably, it ranked third in NME's "Top 10 Korean Dramas of 2024" and became the first Korean drama to reach the number one spot in the global daily TV show rankings on Prime Video, sparking a worldwide "Please Marry My Husband" craze.

Thanks to this popularity, the production of the Japanese version of "Please Marry My Husband" has been confirmed, and preparations are underway to meet global fans through Prime Video. The Japanese version will not be a remake of the Korean drama but will be a new drama titled "Please Marry My Husband" (Original title: 私の夫と結婚して) based on the web novel's storyline.

CJ ENM JAPAN and Korea's largest drama production company, Studio Dragon, are in charge of planning, while the film "The Girl We Liked That Year" was produced by Jiyuuro Pictures, and the long-established major production company Shochiku (松竹撮影所) in Japan will handle production.

The cast lineup also adds to the anticipation. Rising star Koshiba Fuka, known for her outstanding acting skills and attractive visuals, will play the female lead. The male lead will be played by the popular actor Sato Takeru, who has garnered love for both his acting skills and buzz. Additionally, the casting lineup includes representative Japanese actors such as Shiraishi Sei and Yokoyama Yu, heightening expectations.

The direction will be handled by director Ahn Gil-ho, known for "The Glory," "Memories of the Alhambra," and "Secret Forest." The script will be written by Oshima Satomi, who is well-known in Korea for "1 Liter of Tears" and was nominated for an excellence award at the Japanese Academy for her work "Ninety Years Old, What's Worth Celebrating?" This will be complemented by Studio Dragon's Son Ja-young PD and CJ ENM's global content production team’s Lee Sang-hwa PD, who will serve as the executive producers for the Japanese version of "Please Marry My Husband," showcasing the production capabilities of K-dramas.

This collaboration between K-drama producers and Japanese actors and local staff is an eye-catching global project. It is expected to open a new chapter in the global market as a J-drama created by K-drama producers. Recently, CJ ENM expressed its ambition to open a new chapter in the global market as it celebrates its 30th anniversary in cultural business, making the production of this Japanese version of "Please Marry My Husband" noteworthy.

A CJ ENM representative stated, "We are pleased to present 'Please Marry My Husband,' which has received much love from viewers, in collaboration with Prime Video," adding, "As K-dramas are gaining recognition for their production capabilities beyond Korea, we are planning and developing various projects with local production companies and platform partners. We will strive to bring a new breeze to the global market through this Japan-Korea joint project."

The series will consist of 10 episodes and will premiere on Prime Video on June 27. The domestic airing platform will be announced later.
