
Singer Daesung will serve as the MC for the Japanese version of 'Current King of Singers', titled 'Current King of Singers JAPAN'.
To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Korea and Japan, the male vocalist audition program 'Current King of Singers JAPAN' is a Japanese adaptation of the popular program 'Current King of Singers', which has garnered attention and high ratings in Korea. This audition program targets J-POP singers who are currently active in Japan, regardless of genre or experience, and are filled with passion for singing. The program will be broadcast by the major Japanese network BS Nippon Television, with the first recording scheduled for May 27.
With a grand prize of 10 million yen, 'Current King of Singers JAPAN' serves as a prelude to the spin-off program of 'Current King of Singers 2', where the top male vocalists selected from 'Current King of Singers JAPAN' will collaborate with the top male singers from Korea selected in 'Current King of Singers 2' and participate in various activities, including the 'Korea-Japan King of Singers Competition' and subsequent spin-off programs of 'Current King of Singers 2'.
In this regard, Daesung, who has been a cultural bridge between Korea and Japan for 17 years and is regarded as a 'symbol of global idols', has been confirmed as the MC for 'Current King of Singers JAPAN', adding special significance to the role.
Daesung, a K-POP legend and symbol of K-global idols through his activities with 'BIGBANG', has also showcased a strong influence as a solo artist in Japan, successfully facilitating cultural exchange between the two countries.
He has drawn a maximum audience of 770,000 during 'BIGBANG's Japan dome tour and recently completed the 'D's IS ME - Encore' live arena tour in Tokyo and Kobe, following a live tour in 10 cities in Japan in 2024, establishing a unique position in Japan. Additionally, he will kick off his Asia tour with the release of his first solo album on April 8 and the 'DAESUNG 2025 ASIA TOUR: D’s WAVE IN SEOUL' scheduled for April 26 and 27.
Above all, Daesung has been actively involved as a master in 'Current King of Singers 2' following his role in 'Current King of Singers 1', contributing to the discovery and judging of current singers advancing to the 'Korea-Japan King of Singers Competition', receiving positive reviews. He is also recognized for his excellent speaking skills and smooth hosting abilities as the MC of 'Korea-Japan Top Ten Show', which has sparked interest with the competition of hit songs between Korean and Japanese singers.
