The group Stray Kids has made a generous donation of 800 million won to provide emergency relief for the worst wildfire damage in history that occurred in the Ulsan, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam regions.
On the 1st, Stray Kids donated 400 million won to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association and 400 million won to the social welfare organization World Vision, totaling 800 million won. This donation will be used to support emergency relief supplies for residents affected by the large wildfires, emergency living expenses, and support for firefighters.
Stray Kids stated through their agency JYP Entertainment, “We deeply empathize with the pain of the residents who lost their daily lives in an instant, and we want to express our gratitude to everyone who is working hard together.”
Stray Kids' positive influence has been ongoing. Since starting to sponsor children overseas in 2014, they have participated in regular personal sponsorships and lunch support for vulnerable groups in Korea in 2020, emergency relief donations for the Syria-Turkey earthquake in 2023, and global food crisis response projects in 2024. Recently, members who celebrated their birthdays each donated 100 million won to share the love they received.
Meanwhile, the wildfire that broke out in Uiseong, Gyeongbuk on the 22nd spread uncontrollably to Andong, Yeongyang, and Yeongdeok. The main fire was extinguished after a week, but 5,000 buildings, including homes and agricultural facilities, were burned, and various cultural properties and over 3,300 hectares of farmland were also damaged. The damage from this wildfire is expected to exceed 1 trillion won. At one point, more than 30,000 people were evacuated, and about 3,000 are still staying in temporary facilities.
