Comedian Kwon Bum recently mentioned the music video of Rosé’s ‘Apartment’, which has been a hot topic.
On the 19th, the MBC entertainment program ‘Radio Star’ featured rising stars Kim Nam-il, Kwon Bum, Ji Ye-eun, Jung Ho-cheol, and Shin Gu-jin.
On that day, Kwon Bum talked about the parody music video of Rosé’s ‘Apartment’ that he created with Eom Ji-yoon. Their parody video gained attention on social media for its impressive synchronization, using the original song as is.
Kim Gura raised a question, saying, “If you upload the song as it is, the copyright revenue will go to the original artist.” To this, Kwon Bum replied, “Yes. So, the moment we uploaded the video, we forfeited the copyright revenue. All the revenue from that video probably went to Rosé.”
He continued, “The day after we uploaded this video, Rosé gave us a shoutout. She posted it on her personal social media account, and that’s when the views started to increase,” expressing his joy.
However, after uploading the video, an unexpected controversy arose for Kwon Bum. He said, “I uploaded the video, and then articles about racism started coming out. I couldn’t even refute it, and when I looked into it, they said I tried to imitate Bruno Mars by changing my skin color. They said it was racist because I painted my face black.” He mentioned the controversy, adding, “I just drew a mustache on my face and filmed it. I’m just dark-skinned. They keep telling me to apologize, so I just said I’m sorry for now.”
He added, “I was originally dark-skinned, but I got even darker while doing ‘Mungchyeo ya Chanda’,” and Kim Nam-il, who is coaching on ‘Mungchyeo ya Chanda’, expressed his confusion, saying, “You were only in the tent, so why are you so dark?” Kwon Bum replied, “Rather, the people who are running sometimes turn their backs to the sun, but those on the bench are always facing the sun,” which drew laughter.
