Jeong Soo-yeon (41), the winner of MBN's 'Voice Queen', recently confessed to her two divorces and announced her full-scale activities with the release of new music after two years.
Earlier this year, Jeong Soo-yeon released new songs 'I Recorded' and 'Just Thinking Makes Me Cry'. Seol Woon-do participated in writing and composing all the songs.
In a phone call with Maeil Business Star Today on the 12th, Jeong Soo-yeon said, "Someone who helps me is close to Seol Woon-do, and they connected us. He listened to my old materials and audition programs and wrote the songs for me," adding, "I heard that he had other songs lined up but chose to write mine with affection."
Regarding the EDM-style dance song 'I Recorded', Jeong Soo-yeon said, "It's a song you can sing excitedly at karaoke after having a drink," and added, "I wanted to create a song that the public could easily sing along to, and this song has that feeling."
She recommended another song, 'Just Thinking Makes Me Cry', saying, "It's a song that will make fathers of my father's age cry while thinking of their wives." She mentioned, "I've heard that fathers who listened to it held their wives' hands and cried," and added, "Even if it's not about a marital relationship, singing it while feeling love, gratitude, and remorse makes your heart heavy."
Jeong Soo-yeon expressed, "I had many personal troubles and was worried about whether I should quit singing," and stated, "I'm doing my best with the mindset that this is my last chance."
“There were times I thought I was really unlucky and considered giving up, but people around me encouraged me to try again. When I looked up unexpectedly, I found people who were waiting for me and those who were helping me. During the competition, I was just an ordinary person, so I didn't have much fear... It's a crossroads between living as a singer or as an ordinary person. Now that my situation is ambiguous, it seems to be getting more desperate.”
Jeong Soo-yeon, who won first place in the final round of MBN's housewife audition program 'Voice Queen', shared her painful story of raising her child alone for six years after divorcing her husband shortly before their child was 100 days old.
“The biggest problem was making a living. I bought my son new shoes for the first time when he was four years old,” she revealed, and throughout her participation in 'Voice Queen', she expressed, “My goal is to give hope to single mothers,” which resonated with many and garnered support.
After going through a difficult time during the COVID-19 pandemic, she secretly announced her remarriage in 2020, stating, “We didn’t hold a wedding ceremony; we just registered our marriage. He is a civilian who is five years older than me, and my son acted as a bridge between us,” expressing her happiness. However, she courageously revealed that her second marriage has also ended in failure and is strengthening her resolve for a comeback.
Jeong Soo-yeon will appear on MBN's 'Exclusive World' airing on the night of the 13th to discuss the circumstances surrounding her second marriage's breakdown and her current situation.
In this broadcast, she reveals, “Once I got married, my husband was financially irresponsible and even lost our assets, leading to the breakdown of my second marriage,” and added, “Since I had a second daughter, the situation felt even more daunting. I want to succeed as a singer and stand proudly in front of my family.”
