The family of the late MBC weathercaster Oh Yoanna has commented on Kim Ga-young, who has been identified as a perpetrator in the workplace bullying allegations.

On the 7th, Oh Yoanna's family representative, lawyer Jeon Sang-beom, appeared on TV Chosun's "Jang Won-jun and Kim Mi-sun's Newstradamus."

Lawyer Jeon stated, "Among the deceased's colleagues, there are primary perpetrators, as well as those who condoned or stood by. The family does not intend to hurt the entire weather team," and added, "If a colleague who is not a direct perpetrator seeks forgiveness, the family is prepared to open their hearts."

He continued, "The family is concerned about the situation where someone who is merely a bystander is misunderstood as the main perpetrator," and expressed hope that a colleague who is not a direct perpetrator would sincerely apologize and reveal the truth together. "We are ready to open our hearts," he said.

Additionally, lawyer Jeon mentioned, "Currently, there is one person the family has filed a civil lawsuit against," and stated, "According to the information available so far, Kim Ga-young is not a direct perpetrator. She is also not the target of the civil lawsuit." However, he added, "We do not know what other information may come out as the lawsuit progresses."

Lawyer Jeon urged, "Please focus on the essence of the case, which is workplace bullying and institutional improvement," and conveyed that the family fears the tragic incident that happened to the deceased may be politically exploited or framed, obscuring its essence.

The late Oh Yoanna joined MBC as a weathercaster in 2021 and suddenly passed away last September. The news of her death was belatedly reported three months later in December, and a 17-page suicide note was discovered on her mobile phone, leading to allegations of workplace bullying.

In December of last year, the family filed a civil lawsuit against a colleague who appeared to have engaged in workplace bullying at the Seoul Central District Court, and MBC formed a fact-finding committee to investigate. Kim Ga-young, who has been accused of being a perpetrator or bystander in the workplace bullying, voluntarily stepped down from the radio program she was appearing on and was also dismissed as a promotional ambassador for Paju City.
