
Director Kim Won-seok of “I Was Completely Deceived” expressed confidence in the chemistry between Park Bo-gum and IU.
On the morning of the 4th at 10:30 AM, the event “Next on Netflix 2025 Korea” was held at the Fairmont Ambassador Seoul. Kang Dong-han, VP of Netflix Korean Content, Kim Tae-won, Director of Netflix Film, Yoo Gi-hwan, Director of Netflix Non-Fiction, and Bae Jong-byeong, Senior Director of Netflix Series attended.
Writers and directors including Lee Na-eun of “Melomovie,” Director Kim Won-seok of “I Was Completely Deceived,” Director Lee Il-hyung of “Bad Relationship,” Director Yoo Young-eun of “Can This Love Be Translated?” and Director Lee Chang-min of “Cashier” were also present.
Director Kim Won-seok introduced, “The term ‘yowangji’ means smart and capable. The character Aesoon, who can do many things, faces frustration due to her environment of poverty and being on an island, but she is a lovely character who navigates her life. If Aesoon is the one who makes Kwan-sik swoon, he is a wonderful man who can do anything for her. The story depicts their adventures as they navigate life together and separately.”
Regarding the chemistry between Park Bo-gum and IU, he hesitated before saying, “If I were to say in advance,” and then confidently stated, “It’s the best chemistry you can imagine.”
Director Kim also hinted, “You will see a different side of Park Bo-gum than you usually think,” and added, “IU will be able to showcase all the many charming aspects she has shown so far.”
“I Was Completely Deceived,” directed by Kim Won-seok and starring IU and Park Bo-gum, is a Netflix series that unfolds the adventurous life of Aesoon, a ‘rebellious girl’ born in Jeju, and Kwan-sik, a ‘foolish but strong’ man, across the four seasons. It will be released on March 7, March 14, March 21, and March 28.
