Actor Kim Kwang-kyu is going to the UK for language training to overcome his English trauma.

At the press conference for JTBC's new variety show ‘Language Training Shallashalla’ (hereafter ‘Shallashalla’) held at Stanford Hotel in Sangam-dong, Seoul on the 3rd, Kim Kwang-kyu said, “When I was in middle school, I thought English was American, but as I grew up, I learned it was a British language, which sparked my curiosity. I decided to challenge myself with the mindset of ‘Let’s go and face it.’”

He revealed that he developed a ‘trauma’ due to English during his school days, saying, “I had English classes four times a week, and every time it was English class, I got hit a lot by the teacher. That trauma still lingers. I got hit the most in my life. I still remember the teacher's name.”

He added, “I tried to break the trauma, and I would appreciate it if you could confirm through the broadcast whether I can overcome it or if it will just increase,” urging viewers to watch.

On this day, after the language training, Kim Kwang-kyu subtly showed confidence in his ‘English’ skills. He joked, “I have a vague feeling that I will go to Hollywood someday,” and added, “If the opportunity arises, I will definitely go. I have a feeling I will go within 10 years.”

‘Shallashalla’ is a variety show that captures the chaotic language training journey of five actors. The show features the cheerful campus life and 100% real struggles of actors Sung Dong-il, Kim Kwang-kyu, Um Ki-joon, Jang Hyuk, and Shin Seung-hwan, with an average age of 52.8 years. It will premiere on the 5th at 10:20 PM.
