Shoo from the group S.E.S., who has been embroiled in controversy over habitual gambling, appeared on SBS with her face blurred.
On the 28th, the SBS special program for the Lunar New Year, ‘K-POP The Beginning: SMTOWN 30’, introduced the history of S.E.S., the first girl group in K-pop.
When footage of S.E.S. was shown, Key remarked, “They were truly legendary,” and Yoona said, “I grew my dreams watching the seniors of S.E.S. I practiced S.E.S. songs for talent shows.”
During this segment, footage of S.E.S. appeared, but Shoo's face was blurred.
Previously, on the 26th, Shoo's face was also blurred on MBC’s ‘King of Mask Singer’.
At that time, while introducing Chae Eun-jung of the first-generation girl group Cleo, who appeared under the nickname ‘The Lady Living in the Present’, footage of S.E.S. from the same era was shown, with only Shoo's face blurred.
Shoo is on the list of celebrities banned from appearing on terrestrial broadcasts due to habitual gambling charges.
Shoo was indicted for habitual gambling amounting to approximately 790 million won in places like Macau from August 2016 to May 2018, and was sentenced to six months in prison, with a two-year probation and 80 hours of community service. She also borrowed about 400 million won but failed to repay it, leading to a lawsuit for the return of the loan. This was settled through mediation in November 2020. After a period of reflection, Shoo returned as a BJ (broadcast jockey).
