‘Current King of Mask Singer 2’ is canceled due to the Muan Airport Jeju Air passenger plane tragedy.
On the 31st, MBN announced, “The broadcast of ‘Current King of Mask Singer 2’ scheduled for today, 12/31 (Tuesday), is canceled,” and requested viewers' understanding.
The government has designated a national mourning period for seven days until January 4th at 24:00, leading the remaining three terrestrial broadcasters to cancel year-end award ceremonies and major entertainment programs.
On the morning of the 29th, a Jeju Air passenger plane carrying 181 passengers collided with the runway's outer wall during landing, resulting in a fire that caused the deaths of 179 people and injuries to 2 others. Among the 175 passengers, 173 were confirmed to be Korean, while the remaining 2 were Thai nationals.
