Broadcaster Park Myung-soo mourned the Jeju Air passenger plane tragedy.
In the opening of KBS Cool FM’s ‘Park Myung-soo’s Radio Show’ broadcast on the 30th, Park Myung-soo mentioned the tragedy that occurred on the 29th at Muan International Airport involving a Jeju Air passenger plane.
Park Myung-soo said, “It’s a heavy and difficult morning. There was a tragic and sad accident yesterday. I express my heartfelt condolences and pray for the souls of all the deceased,” as he mourned.
He added, “It must have been very hard and emotional since yesterday. It is a time when mutual comfort is desperately needed. Let’s comfort and encourage each other,” offering solace to the listeners who were also grieving due to the tragedy.
Park Myung-soo also expressed, “I am just grateful to be able to meet you all,” and shared stories such as “I am in pain and can’t sleep, I wish it were a dream,” and “I pray for the victims’ souls.” He continued, “I feel the same way. I have no words other than to tell the bereaved families to stay strong,” and added, “Please, I beg you, let such incidents not happen again. I think we need to lend a lot of strength.”
On that day, actors Park Geun-hyung and Lee Sang-yoon from the play ‘Death of a Salesman’ were scheduled to be guests. However, the ‘Radio Show’ team announced on social media on the 29th, “We will inform you of the rescheduled broadcast schedule through this account as soon as possible,” and requested the listeners’ understanding, indicating that the guest invitation was postponed to mourn the Jeju Air passenger plane tragedy.
On the morning of the 29th, at around 9:03 AM, Jeju Air flight C2216 from Bangkok, Thailand, crashed into the airport's outer wall while making an emergency landing at Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do, resulting in the aircraft being severely damaged and completely burned. Fire authorities reported that only 2 crew members were rescued from the aircraft, which had a total of 181 people on board, including 175 passengers and 6 crew members, and were taken to the hospital. The government has designated a national mourning period until January 4, 2025.
