Actor Song Joong-ki showed off his doting husband side while bragging about his wife.
On the 26th, the YouTube channel “Hello, this is Choi Hwa-jung” posted a video titled “It’s been 2 weeks since I had a daughter! Song Joong-ki’s amazing recent news (newlywed home, wife bragging).”
In the video, Choi Hwa-jung said, “You had a daughter, right? Congratulations.” To this, Song Joong-ki replied, “It’s been about 2 weeks now, and my wife and the baby are in Rome while I’m here for filming. I miss them so much,” smiling brightly.
When asked where he lives now, Song Joong-ki said, “I live in Itaewon, Korea, and in the countryside of Tuscany, on the outskirts of Rome, Italy. It’s really nice. My wife has lived in Italy her whole life, so when I’m not filming, she stays in Italy.”
He also mentioned, “The child speaks Italian, and there are many times I can’t understand. So I feel pressured and am studying. My wife is learning Korean, and her language skills are seriously good. She learns quickly and even says to my mom, ‘Mom, eat.’ It’s not perfect, but isn’t it cute?” bragging about his wife.
He continued about his wife, “I’m Korean, but she values manners and character more than I do, so I often get scolded. One day, my manager had something to tell me and asked me to wait for a moment. After the manager left, she said to me, ‘Who do you think you are to make someone wait?’”
Song Joong-ki talked about his wife’s cooking, saying, “Thanks to my wife, I’ve become deeply immersed in Italian food. Do I seem like a doting husband? But I have to brag,” and added, “My mother-in-law is Colombian, so she can cook Colombian food, and my father is British, so he can cook British food. She has lived in Italy her whole life, so she also makes Italian food.”
He continued, “My best friend from high school is Korean, and his mother was a classmate of Chef Park Chan-il at cooking school. He learned only the dishes I like,” and mentioned, “He learned how to make abalone porridge and heotjesatbap (a type of rice dish). I’m really grateful and proud of him.”
Song Joong-ki then joked, “People around us who know our couple say my wife is much more precious. I know that too.”
Song Joong-ki also said, “My wife speaks British English. She finds Italian easier. She also speaks Spanish and French perfectly, influenced by her mother. I’m envious.”
He added, “My son is 18 months old. He calls me ‘Dad’ and calls his mom ‘Mama.’ He says, ‘Good night, Dad. I love you.’ I keep speaking to him in Korean,” and recalled, “I met him after 5 months of filming, and he seemed to wonder why the dad on the screen was right in front of him. There was a loading time of about 1-2 minutes. Then he hugged me. I can’t tell you how much I cried.”
When asked how pretty his daughter must be, Song Joong-ki said, “I’m going crazy.” He added that he feels lucky because of his wife, saying, “My wife recently told me that I have everything now, especially since our daughter was born.”
Meanwhile, Song Joong-ki married British actress Katie Louise Saunders in 2023 and welcomed their first son in June of the same year. In November, they announced the birth of their second daughter, receiving many congratulations.
Song Joong-ki will appear in the movie “Bogotá: The Land of Last Chances,” which is set to be released on the 31st. “Bogotá: The Land of Last Chances” tells the story of Guk-hee (played by Song Joong-ki), who heads to Bogotá, Colombia, with new hope after the IMF crisis, and gets entangled with the influential figures of the Korean community in Bogotá, including Su-young (Lee Hee-joon) and Sergeant Park (Kwon Hae-hyo).
