According to Nielsen Korea, the first episode of TV CHOSUN’s ‘Mr. Trot 3’, aired on the 19th, recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 12.9%, showing high interest.
Yoon Dong-jin from the college division, known as the 'Trot World Remario', heated up his tense first stage with pelvic dances and oil expression techniques. Yoon Dong-jin passionately sang ‘Paradise’, the OST of the movie ‘Masked Dalu’, making Master Lee Kyung-kyu dance and receiving an all-heart.
The youth division, which has garnered attention every season, did not disappoint this time either. ‘Little Lee Chan-won’ Go Eun-jun received an all-heart with ‘You Are My Man’, reminiscent of Lee Chan-won’s stage from his childhood. ‘9-year-old tough guy’ Park Jung-min burst into tears over the tension of elimination, moving and amusing the masters.
The youngest participant, 8-year-old Yoo Ji-woo, delivered ‘Jeongnyeong’ without any tricks. With singing skills hard to believe for an 8-year-old, Lee Chan-won expressed his surprise in his judging comments, saying, “I’ve been struggling with my singing lately, but I think I found the answer.”
The working division attracted attention not only for the stage but also for the participants' professions. Go Young-tae, an employee at a meat restaurant, shocked everyone with his shocking vegetable wrap costume and a performance that involved tearing his clothes and samba dancing, earning an all-heart. Air conditioner technician Park Ji-hoo revealed his story of living alone since middle school, bringing tears to MC Kim Sung-joo. Park Ji-hoo, who said, “I was cold, hungry, and lonely,” expressed his tough life in ‘Thank You, Life’, stirring the viewers' emotions.
The active division, which has produced all the winners of ‘Mr. Trot’ in history, was legendary as well. Kim Yong-bin, a trot prodigy in his 21st year of debut, shared, “I feel like the stage I can stand on is gradually disappearing,” explaining why he participated in the ‘Mr. Trot’ series for the first time. The hidden master Mu-ryong revealed, “I had to work part-time at a construction site because no one was calling me to sing,” while ballad singer Moses transformed into trot singer Chun-gil, evoking chills with his still-impressive singing skills. All three received all-hearts.
The final stage was the active division X blind audition. The active division X, composed of singers who want to compete solely on singing, hides their faces and identities while being judged. Their identities are revealed only when they receive an all-heart, a first-ever attempt at blind judging that left the masters speechless. The first active division X stage was ‘Hadong Nam-jin’. From the first note, Hadong Nam-jin captured the hearts of the masters, making all of them stand up and receive an all-heart. The identity of Hadong Nam-jin, who captivated the masters in an instant, will be revealed next week.
