Singer Jung Won-kwan revealed the behind-the-scenes story related to the departure of member Lee Sang-won from Fire Truck and his entry into Hong Kong.
On the 12th, Jung Won-kwan appeared on the YouTube channel 'Song Seung-hwan's Wonderful Life' and shared stories from his past activities with Fire Truck.
Song Seung-hwan asked, "Fire Truck was formed with great difficulty since the duo days and had three hits in their first album, including 'Please Tell Her' and 'Last Night's Story.' But why did member Lee Sang-won suddenly go solo?"
Jung Won-kwan candidly confessed his feelings at the time. He said, "I was shocked back then. I thought he was a traitor and a scoundrel," and laughed. He added, "But as time passed and I grew older, I realized he must have had his own desires. Now I understand."
He continued, "Lee Sang-won is originally a pure-hearted person," and reminisced, "Someone must have tempted him from behind." At that time, as the Hong Kong film boom occurred, star Lee Soo-hyun, who was on par with actor Chow Yun-fat, gained immense popularity, and many people would say Lee Sang-won resembled Lee Soo-hyun.
Ultimately, Lee Sang-won chose to make a sudden entry into Hong Kong. However, his departure caused a significant ripple effect for Fire Truck. Jung Won-kwan revealed, "While we were unaware, the company released an article stating 'Fire Truck disbanded suddenly,' and Kim Tae-hyung and I had no choice but to face the disbandment situation."
Afterward, Jung Won-kwan and Kim Tae-hyung went down to Daejeon to regroup and look for new members. Jung Won-kwan explained, "This time, we decided to pick a friend who would listen well, and we recruited the well-known dancer Do Geon-woo."
