Professor Seo Kyung-deok, known as the 'Guardian of Dokdo', has released a multilingual video with broadcaster Lee Soo-ji to promote representative plants of Dokdo, such as the island's native plant, the 'Island Girincho'.
This 4-minute video was co-produced with the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation's Content Promotion Agency (Director Lee Jong-soo) and is available in Korean and English, widely spreading among netizens both domestically and internationally.
The main content of the video introduces a total of 56 species of plants that grow naturally on Dokdo, with a detailed introduction to the 'Island Girincho', which is only found on Ulleungdo and Dokdo in the world.

Additionally, it reminds viewers that 100 years ago, during Japanese colonial rule, the potential value of Dokdo's native plants was targeted, and scientific names were registered with Japanese names to secure research priority, emphasizing the need for efforts to reclaim this.
Professor Seo, who planned the video, stated, "This is the fourth video following the symbolic animals of Dokdo, such as the sea lion, the Korean mastiff, and the Dokdo shrimp," adding, "I wanted to produce a series of videos showcasing the flora and fauna representing Dokdo and widely promote them both domestically and internationally."
He particularly noted, "The video is being spread not only on YouTube but also across various social media platforms, and we are consistently sharing it with major Korean and international student communities around the world."

Lee Soo-ji, who provided the Korean narration, expressed, "I am glad to directly introduce the native plants of Dokdo, and I hope many netizens both domestically and internationally will watch it."
Meanwhile, Professor Seo Kyung-deok, who is currently serving as the promotional ambassador for Gyeongsangbuk-do's Dokdo content, is set to unveil an animation about the Dokdo sea lion in collaboration with the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation's Content Promotion Agency later this year.
