Kim Ji-yeon completed the finale of 'Gwigung' with a colorful performance.

In the final episode of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Gwigung' (written by Yoon Soo-jung / directed by Yoon Sung-sik) aired on the 7th, Kim Ji-yeon portrayed the character 'Yeori', providing an intense immersion until the last moment and leaving a deep aftertaste.

Yeori did her utmost to prevent the luminous wine from being consumed by Kang Cheol-yi (played by Yook Sung-jae). With tears welling up, she suggested running away, saying she no longer had the confidence to face the Palcheokwi, showing a vulnerable side unlike before. At that moment, the sincerity in Yeori's desperate voice, which only thought of Kang Cheol-yi, was palpable. Soon after, Yeori approached the court attendant Kim Eung-soon (played by Kim In-kwon) with a meaningful expression to ask for help, making it clear that her intention was to face the Palcheokwi alone without Kang Cheol-yi.

Before the final confrontation with the Palcheokwi, Yeori transformed into various roles, from a court attendant to a fire pit reaper (a grim reaper who guides souls that died in fire), capturing attention until the end. Disguised as a court attendant, she approached King Lee Jeong (played by Kim Ji-hoon), who was possessed by the Palcheokwi, and revealed her dignity by channeling the fire pit reaper with a fierce gaze. After a tense battle, when Yeori was on the verge of death, Kang Cheol-yi appeared and ultimately chose to consume the luminous wine, causing Yeori to scream in despair. She then held the fallen Kang Cheol-yi, weeping and moving the hearts of viewers.

Afterward, Yeori lived in sorrow after losing Kang Cheol-yi. She looked vacantly at Kang Cheol-yi, who could not rise for three days until his coffin, giving up hope, but when Kang Cheol-yi suddenly kicked open the coffin and stood up, she embraced him with a face filled with relief and happiness. Thus, Yeori continued her life as a glasses craftsman while building a happy family with Kang Cheol-yi, responding with a bright smile to King Lee Jeong's command to return to the palace, concluding with a happy ending.

Kim Ji-yeon perfectly portrayed the three genres of fantasy, romance, and historical drama in 'Gwigung', garnering enthusiastic responses. Through her realistic possession acting, she not only resolved the grievances of the vengeful spirits but also created tension by shining with a determined gaze against the Palcheokwi, making viewers eagerly await each episode. Furthermore, she captured the process of Yeori's feelings towards Kang Cheol-yi changing from hatred to love with her multifaceted expressions, making the audience both cry and laugh. With Kim Ji-yeon showcasing the essence of a complex genre in 'Gwigung', expectations for her future endeavors are growing.
