Singer Hong Jin-young revealed her thoughts on marriage.
On the 14th, SBS’s ‘Take Off Your Shoes and Dolsing Po Man’ featured guests Jo Jung-chi, Jung In, Hong Jin-young, and Yoon Ha-jung.
On this day, Hong Jin-young said, “When I was young, the age of forty felt very far away. So in my twenties, I thought, ‘Maybe I can get married before I turn forty.’ But as time passed, I realized that I no longer had the desire to get married at some point.”
Hong Jin-young mentioned that she recently received a call from a marriage agency, saying, “I usually don’t answer calls from unknown numbers, but I happened to pick it up. They said there was someone registered there who wanted to meet me. They had found my contact information through inquiries. At first, I thought it was a voice phishing scam.”
When Lee Sang-min speculated, “That person must not be ordinary, so they got your contact information from the marriage agency. Was he the heir of a mid-sized company?” Hong Jin-young looked flustered. She added, “I didn’t meet him. The thing I dislike the most is blind dates.”
Hong Jin-young also revealed that she had been approached by the grandson of a chaebol. She recalled, “I had to go to a close friend’s birthday party. When I walked in, the chaebol grandson was sitting arrogantly in the main seat. Isn’t that just awful?”
She continued, “He looked at me and said, ‘Who is she?’ At that time, there was no way he wouldn’t know me. Anyone could tell it was Hong Jin-young. I felt really bad.”
She added, “He also said something I really disliked. He said, ‘From today, you’re my girl.’ So I thought to myself, ‘What a jerk.’”
Meanwhile, Lee Sang-min mentioned that Hong Jin-young responded “Just come with your body” when asked how financially prepared she was for marriage. Hong Jin-young explained, “I don’t like people who lack independence. They don’t have to earn a lot of money. I just prefer someone who works hard and lives their own life. They don’t have to do anything special for me.”
Hong Jin-young surprised everyone by saying that in the past, she had given her boyfriend luxury goods and cash, and received a paper crane in return. She laughed, saying, “That was probably in my twenties.”
