Singer Cho Yong-pil heated up the living room stage.

The KBS2 program ‘Cho Yong-pil, This Moment Forever’ aired the concert held at Gocheok Sky Dome on the 6th of last month.

On this day, Cho Yong-pil revealed, “As far as I know, it’s been 28 years since I was on KBS. In fact, I’m not used to being on TV. When they say, ‘We are recording,’ or ‘The camera is rolling,’ I get nervous.”

Regarding his decision to hold a solo concert on KBS, Cho explained, “I thought there wouldn’t be many opportunities to meet you all if not now. Also, my voice might not get better in the future. So I felt I had to do it quickly and made the decision.”

With a huge flash, Cho Yong-pil opened the concert with ‘The Unknown World’. He then heated up the atmosphere with powerful performances of ‘I Can’t Find the Nightingale’, ‘Pride’, and ‘Oh My Love’.

Cho Yong-pil greeted the audience with his first words, “Have you been waiting long? Thank you for welcoming me so warmly.”

He continued, “I think I’ve been able to sing this long because of all of you. Thank you,” with a smile.

He then joked, “I will continue to sing in the future. If it doesn’t work out, I might take a break for 2-3 years and then come back, and if that doesn’t work, I might be gone for 4-5 years. Then how old will I be?”

Afterward, Cho Yong-pil sang ‘Reunion in Memories’, ‘The Woman Outside the Window’, ‘Candlelight’, ‘Short Hair’, and ‘Dragonfly’, immersing the audience in nostalgia. He also engaged with the audience through a sing-along of ‘Empty Space’.

Moreover, Cho Yong-pil mentioned that he continues to practice singing, saying, “If you don’t sing, your voice ages. So you have to strengthen your voice. The way to do that is practice. I really practice hard before going on stage.”

He added, “Dying on stage is my dream. How happy would it be to die while singing? It’s my dream, but I don’t think it will happen,” smiling.

Following this, tributes from junior artists to Cho Yong-pil continued. IU said, “When I went to see my mom and teacher’s concert, just being in that concert hall made me a fan. I think it’s unique in that it can be loved by all generations.”

Director Park Chan-wook stated, “To put it simply, he is ‘my hero’. When I heard ‘Dragonfly’, I thought, ‘A new era is opening’.”

Dynamic Duo and Jannabi described Cho Yong-pil as “the most influential artist since we were born” and “a greater king than the king of music.”
